Video images released on Wednesday (2) by the Mianmar Fire Department showed what they claim to be a man being removed alive from the rubble of a hotel in Naipidau more than 100 hours after a strong 7.7 earthquake shaken the country.
The video showed the conscious survivor underground as the rescuers worked to pull him to the surface through a small hole and put it in a stretcher.
The subtitle published with the video page on the department’s Facebook page said the man, one of two people arrested on the lower two floors of the Aye Chan Thiri Hotel’s six-story building in the municipality of Uttar Thiri in Naypyidaw, was rescued alive at 12:30 pm local time on Wednesday.
Reuters could not independently verify the location and date of the video.
Last Friday’s tremor (28) killed more than 2,700 people.
It is the strongest earthquake to reach the country of Southeast Asia in over a century, overthrowing old temples and modern buildings.
