Man is caught trying to enter 249 Mounjaro pens at the airport

The IRS seized, on the night of last Tuesday (15), 249 pens of the drug Mounjaro at Guararapes International Airport, in Recife (PE).

Valued at about $ 800,000, the products were in a baggage from Europe. The material belonged to the same passenger already arrested on Saturday (13) for trying to enter irregularly with the same medicines.

The new seizure also occurred during a routine customs supervision. According to the IRS, the suitcase with the medicines arrived separately from the passenger, which caught the attention of the agents.

The luggage came from the United Kingdom in Europe. In four days, this is the second time that the same man, who had not had his identity revealed and had been released by the court, is caught with irregular medicines. The previous Saturday, he tried to enter the country with 389 pens of Mounjaro, valued at approximately $ 1 million.

Mounjaro is suitable for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and has also been used for weight loss. Importing the drug requires adequate prescription and transportation, with temperature control, to ensure its effectiveness and safety.

The IRS reported that it has intensified border inspection, focusing on the protection of public health and combating irregular entry of products subject to sanitary control in the country.
