Authorities have identified the man who was arrested carrying an unlicensed gun near the Republican National Convention site in Milwaukee, United States, on Monday (15). He was recognized as Donnell Tinsley, 21.
According to the criminal complaint released Wednesday (17) by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, officers were patrolling the outdoor area of the Republican National Convention and caught Tinsley wearing a ski mask and carrying a “tactical backpack.”
The document said authorities observed him walking away from a security checkpoint at the site.
Law enforcement officials at the Republican Convention included Homeland Security and the United States Capital Police.
During the search of the backpack, a special agent “immediately observed a concealed AK-47 pistol,” according to the indictment. When Tinsley was asked if he had a permit to carry it, he admitted he did not.
Additional items were also found inside the backpack, “including a full-battery magazine containing 7.62X39 caliber ammunition. Also found inside the bag was a mask from the movie ‘Scream,’ a flashlight, two sets of black gloves with rubber tips, a pair of sunglasses… two cans of spray paint and several empty bags with marijuana prints,” the complaint continued.
The District Attorney’s Office added to the CNN who had no information at this time on whether Tinsley had an attorney.
