An 18-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday. on suspicion of harassing and committing attacks on women around the Cidade Toronto park, in the City América neighborhood, in the Pirituba region, north of São Paulo.
According to the Civil Police, several victims have filed complaints. They report that they were walking or running in the park when they began to be followed by the boy. When he reached them, he slapped, slapped, kissed and squeezed their buttocks.
The man was identified through security cameras and arrested on a temporary arrest warrant by the 9th Police Station for the Defense of Women. In a video released by the police, it is possible to see him following the victims for long periods, even outside the park.
The victims also released photos of handprints and slippers on their bodies after the attacks.
In the video, the police call the suspect a “Toronto Park maniac”, in allusion to motorcycle courier Francisco de Assis Pereira, who became known in the 1990s as a park maniac for raping and killing women in the Fontes do Ipiranga State Park, which is located between São Paulo and Diadema, in the south zone of the capital.
