Man arrested at airport with more than 2 kg of cocaine strapped to his body

The Federal Police (PF) arrested this Thursday (18) a man who disembarked at Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), with 2.4 kg of cocaine. The arrest was made during routine inspection and had the help of sniffer dogs.

The man tried to evade inspection by packaging the cocaine in small portions. With an adhesive belt, he attached the drug to his body. The largest amount was attached to the abdomen region. The suspect also had the portions tied to his thighs and ankles.

If convicted, the suspect could face up to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking.

Operation Gate 8

The approach is part of Operation Portão Oito, which includes, in addition to the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue Service and the Special Actions Battalion and Municipal Guard of Campinas.

This year alone, the operation has already resulted in the seizure of 156 kilos of drugs. In total, 13 men and 7 women were arrested.
