A large fire hit an inn, in the early hours of this Friday (3), and left two people dead, in the South Wing of the Federal District. A 45-year-old man was arrested for starting the fire in the property.
According to a military police officer who was at the scene, the man who allegedly set fire to the place told the police station that he was smoking crack inside his room when another resident of the pension went to tell him that his room was on fire.
The DF Military Police said that the author reported that the cause of the fire was his cell phone that caught fire on top of his mattress.
Seven vehicles from the Military Fire Department of the Federal District were called at 00:03 and found a considerable volume of smoke coming out of the windows on the 1st floor of the building.
Firefighters found a dead man in the bathroom facing the interior of the building and another in the bathroom facing the green area window, in cardiorespiratory arrest (CRA). The victim was rescued at the Instituto Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal (IHBDF), but also did not survive.
Flames in the basement of the building were also verified and it was necessary to fight the fire, at the back of the building (green area). According to reports from residents, at the time of the incident there were around 22 people in the place.
The DF Civil Police stated that after taking the usual measures, the author will be taken to the Prisoner Control and Custody Division (DCCP).
