Man arrested after breaking into a building in Ipanema, in the south of Rio

A man was arrested in the act at dawn on Monday (14) after invade a residential building in Ipanema in the south of Rio de Janeiro. The case happened around 1 am on Prudente de Morais Street and caused moments of tension among the residents.

According to reports of witnesses and images of security cameras, the invader, identified as Cristiano Cândido da Silva, jumped the condominium wall and ended up injuring himself by climbing the structure. He left a trail of blood through the corridors as he circulates, playing bells and trying to break into doors. Look:


Cristiano managed to enter a rented apartment by season, which was empty at the time of the invasion. The couple of guests were not at the scene.

The porter of the building tried to alert the residents, but many slept and did not hear the warning. Others noticed the suspicious movement and called the Military Police. Cristiano was found still inside the apartment and detained by the agents.

Upon being approached, the man claimed that he would have invaded the building to hide from homeless people who, he said, would be trying to assault him.

According to the PM, no object was taken from the property. Cristiano was rescued and sent in custody to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. The liquidator of the building testified during the 14th DP (Leblon), who took over the investigation. Other residents will also be heard.

Police reported that Cristiano already had criminal records for domestic violence and drug possession.
