A man was arrested, this Tuesday (28), after abusing, killing and hiding the body of the girl Sophia Angela Veloso, aged 11, on Ilha do Governador, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The child disappeared while going to school and was found dead in a dumpster.
According to the girl's father, Paulo Sérgio da Silva, she disappeared around 2:30 pm on Monday (27). Her body was found this Tuesday morning (28) wrapped in a tarpaulin, with her hands and feet tied with wires and several injuries, according to the Civil Police.
The perpetrator of the crime was identified after security camera images showed him with the victim, hours before his whereabouts.
Civil police officers from the 37th Police Station (Ilha do Governador) and military personnel arrested the criminal.
The accused confessed to the crime, stating that he reached out and killed the victim so that she wouldn't tell anyone. An examination was carried out at the attacker's house, finding traces of blood in the bathroom, as well as the knife he used.
The Civil Police stated, in a statement, that the man was charged with the crimes of qualified homicide, rape of a vulnerable person and concealment of a corpse.
Also according to the PCRJ, another victim of the same author attended the unit and narrated that, when he was a minor, he was also sexually abused by the accused, but, at the time, the family did not register the case.
