Mallorca nightmare: Restaurant collapses due to 'excessive weight' – 'People were crying and screaming'

Rescuers are battling through the debris after a two-story restaurant collapsed on the Spanish island of Majorca, killing four people and injuring 16, local emergency services said. Several people are believed to be trapped under the debris in the Medusa Beach Club, a beach restaurant in one of the busiest areas of the regional capital Palma de Mallorca. The building collapsed at around 20:30 local time on Thursday night. People fell into the basement below the building, where there were customers and staff, according to the BBC. According to police, the roof collapsed due to the “excessive weight”, but investigations are ongoing.
