Madonna: understand how “Like A Prayer” returned to the charts after 35 years

“Like A Prayer” , considered by many to be Madonna's best song, returned to the music charts 35 years after its release. The song should be present on the Queen of Pop's setlist during presentation on Copacabana beach, in Rio, next Saturday (4).

According to Forbes, the song released in 1989 rose to number 60 on iTunes for the United States at the end of April. Present on the star's fourth studio album, the song is also the highest placed in the ranking of the 500 Best Songs in History, made by Rolling Stone.

Despite using religious terms in a double sense and featuring lyrics that establish metaphors between religious education and sex, “Like A Prayer” was present in the official trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine”, the new Marvel film that opens in theaters on July 25th .

The immediate success of the trailer, which was released on April 22, may justify the increase in searches and reproductions of the song. Long awaited by fans, the first preview of the film was released in February this year and became the most viewed trailer in history in the 24-hour period. The video had more than 365 million views in the period.

Also according to Forbes, it was 35 years ago that “Like A Prayer” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, in the same week, the self-titled album reached the top of the Billboard 200.
