Xiaomi has decided to organize the production of its equipment outside of China. So, in Vietnam, the assembly of smartphones of the Chinese brand has already begun, which will then be sold not only domestically, but also exported to other markets in Southeast Asia like Malaysia and Thailand, as reported by Nikkei Asia.
Xiaomi entrusted the production of its smartphones in Vietnam to the Hong Kong company DBG Technology. The assembly is carried out at an enterprise with a total area of about 200 thousand square meters, in the construction of which about 80 million dollars were invested.
By organizing the production of its smartphones in Vietnam, Xiaomi has several goals. First, by doing so, she wants to diversify the supply chain, which is especially relevant in light of the new outbreak of coronavirus infection in China and the restrictions imposed in connection with it. Secondly, Xiaomi wants to strengthen its position in the Vietnamese market, which has great growth potential. The Chinese brand is aiming to catch up with Korean company Samsung, which holds the top spot in smartphone sales in Vietnam.
