The machinery and equipment industry had a drop of 6.4% in total net revenue in January over the same period last year, to R$ 20.25 billion, according to data released this Tuesday (28) by the industry association, Abimaq.
The apparent consumption of machinery and equipment in January dropped 10.1% compared to a year earlier, informed the entity, while the level of occupancy of installed capacity in the industry fell for the fifth consecutive month in January, to 75.5%.
Also according to the Abimaq, China remained once again, in January, as the largest exporter of machinery and equipment to Brazil, accounting for 23% of all imports by the Brazilian sector.
Imports of machinery and equipment in January grew 15.5% compared to January last year, totaling US$ 2.128 billion. “Of this total, China accounts for almost a quarter”, said the Economics and Statistics analyst at the Abimaq, Leonardo Gatto Silva.
The United States ranked second in the Abimaq ranking for the largest exporters of machinery and equipment to Brazil, with 17% of all sector imports in the country.
