The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said he didn’t meet Donald Trump This Saturday (26) in Pope Francis Funeral in St. Peter’s Square, in the Vatican.
When questioned by journalists, Lula stressed that he did not see the president of the United States because there were many people at the ceremony and, therefore, did not have the opportunity to greet him.
“No, I didn’t go [o Trump] Because I was talking to my people about the safety on the way out, because it was a lot of confusion. I did not greeted, I did not see, I did not look at the side. I didn’t see Trump actually, ”said the petista.
Pope Francis’ funeral marked the first event in which Lula and Trump were present at the same time.
Before the funeral, Trump had a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine. Lula commented on their meeting.
“I don’t know what they [Trump e Zelensky] They talked, I can’t intuit the conversation. I think what is important is that if you talk to see if there are a way out of this war, because this war is getting without explanation, that is, no one can explain and nobody wants to talk about peace, ”he said.
“Brazil continues to insist that the solution is to make the two [Trump e Zelensky] They feel at the negotiating table and find a solution, not only for Ukraine and Russia, but also to the violence that Israel commits in the Gaza Strip, ”he added.
