President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated on his social networks that he met with ministers this Thursday (12) and that the government has dedicated special attention to Santa Catarina, due to heavy rains, and Amazonas, which suffers from fires and impacts of drought.
“Today I met via videoconference with ministers to discuss the situation of heavy rains in Santa Catarina, as well as the drought and fires affecting Amazonas. Just as we did with Rio Grande do Sul, we have dedicated special attention to these states, with the presence of technicians, secretaries, ministers, transfers of resources and a lot of dialogue,” he wrote.
The president informed that he ordered the ministers that all teams are mobilized and available to state governments and city halls
“The Federal Government is attentive, present and acting to serve the population and remedy the damage caused by climate extremes”, he stated.
Since the beginning of October, Santa Catarina has been experiencing heavy rains, causing floods, landslides and deaths.
In the north of the country, Amazonas is facing extreme drought and fires, which impact 60 of the state’s 62 municipalities.
