The singer Ludmilla 29, shared, during his participation in the program Que História É Essa, Porchat?, last Tuesday (30), a mistake made when using Google Translate in a conversation with the Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton 39.
Practicing English in her daily routine, the Brazilian said that she had been to one of the athlete’s races and, the day before, she decided to send him a message saying that she was excited about the meeting. However, as she did not speak the language fluently, she decided to use a translator.
“I thought about sending him a message to meet there. But I couldn’t write it, so I used Google Translate. I took the message I wrote there and sent it to him. Then he replied: ‘But I’m vegan, and I work saving animals, so I’m against that kind of thing,’” he said.
Not understanding the answer, Ludmilla thought Hamilton was just being cold to her. “Was he cold to me? But what does it have to do with him being vegan? So, I went to my friend who spoke English and sent him the screenshot of the conversation. He started video calling me, crying with laughter and told me that I invited Hamilton to be a ‘bullfighter’. Do you know what that is? A bullfight. I didn’t understand anything,” she said.
Despite what happened, the next day, Ludmilla apologized to the pilot and explained the situation. Later, he even praised her for her improvement in the language.
