Luciana Gimenez says she considers herself demisexual; she knows what it is

Luciana Gimenez opened up about her privacy and said that she considers herself a demisexual person, in an interview published on Wednesday (29). Sexual orientation indicates sexual attraction in a situation with an emotional bond.

During a conversation with Tati Bernardi, from the “Desculpa Something” podcast, Luciana Gimenez was asked if she has a lot of casual sex in the places she travels. The presenter, in turn, said that she has some difficulty, as she needs to have a prior “connection” with the other person.

“I’m not saying I’m going to marry the person tomorrow, but I have to have some kind of connection in my head. I have to say: ‘No, this person, I want to date’. It’s not like, ‘Oh, come on,’” she said.

Luciana also said that she identifies more as “demisexual”. “The other day, someone on the program said they were demisexual. I said: ‘Guys, this is me’”, commented Luciana.

According to sexologist and relationship psychologist Fábio Borba, demisexuality is a sexual orientation that is characterized by the emergence of sexual attraction only when there is emotional involvement or connection with other people. “For demisexuals, developing an emotional connection is fundamental to experiencing sexual attraction,” explains Fábio.

According to the sexologist, being demisexual, however, does not mean not wanting to have relationships. “While an asexual person may not feel sexual or emotional attraction, demisexuality requires an emotional bond, and then the attraction manifests itself”, says Fábio.

Despite being a less commonly used term, Luciana Gimenez is not the first celebrity who claims to identify as demisexual. Giovanna Ewbank and Iza have already spoken openly about only being able to have sexual relations through strong emotional bonds.
