As of this Friday (5th), the reduction in the average price of diesel sales to distributors, announced by Petrobras on Thursday (4th), will take effect.
The average price dropped by R$0.20 per liter, from R$5.61 to R$5.41.
In a note released on Thursday, the state-owned company informed that the reduction follows the evolution of reference prices, which have stabilized at a lower level for diesel.
“It is consistent with Petrobras’ pricing practice, which seeks to balance its prices with the global market, but without passing on to domestic prices the conjunctural volatility of international quotations and the exchange rate.”
Also according to Petrobras, considering the mandatory mixture of 90% diesel A and 10% biodiesel for the composition of the diesel sold at the gas stations, “Petrobras’ share of the consumer price will rise from R$ 5.05, on average , to R$ 4.87 for each liter sold at the pump”.
The last reduction in the price of diesel had taken place on May 1, 2021.
Reduction in the price of gasoline
Last month, Petrobras announced two reductions in the price of gasoline for distributors. In the first announcement, on July 19, the drop was R$ 0.20 per liter. After just over a week, the state-owned company went from R$3.86 to R$3.71 a liter of fuel.
