The use of water will be restricted from the 24th of August for the residents of London, as from the 12th of August most areas of England have been declared in a state of drought.
Around 15 million people in the British capital and Oxford will mostly be unable to now water their gardens, fill their swimming pools, small or large, wash their cars, windows or yards using a hose. According to the Authorities, in order to replenish the aquifers, it will need to rain a lot.
Today a state of drought was also declared for the south-west part of Wales, mainly around the cities of Swansea and Llanelli. Taking the measure to limit the use water it was decided after the driest spring and early summer in this region for 40 years. In July, there was only 65.5% of the usual average rainfall and the level of some rivers is “unusually low”, according to the Natural Reimgs Wales (NRW), which is cited by APE-MPE.
