Lizzo is sued by three former dancers who accuse her of harassment and a hostile work environment

Lizzo is being sued by three former dancers who allege they were subjected to a hostile work environment and harassment while they were members of the Grammy-winning rapper’s dance crew.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday and obtained by CNN through an attorney for the plaintiffs, it also names its production company Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc and a person described as “captain of the dance cast” as defendants in the case.

Among the allegations filed in the lawsuit, one of the three plaintiffs said she was encouraged by the singer to “take turns touching the performers naked” while at a club in the Red Light District of Amsterdam, Netherlands, during a tour in February.

Fearing retaliation, according to the lawsuit, the plaintiff said that she ended up “agreeing”, despite having expressed numerous times that she did not want to touch the artists.

Another whistleblower alleges that her commitment to her role on the dance team was questioned by the singer, who expressed “vehemently” concerns about the plaintiff’s “weight gain”, according to the lawsuit, resulting in the plaintiff feeling pressured to “explain her gained weight and divulge intimate personal details about her life to keep her job.”

Other allegations are made throughout the reports, which allege that people employed by Lizzo subjected the plaintiffs to racial and religious discrimination, including an allegation that an accountant on the management team discriminated against black dancers by berating them for allegedly “unacceptable and disrespectful”. during the tour.

The lawsuit alleges that this comment by the accountant was “accused of being “racial and fatphobic”. Lizzo is known for her uplifting messages and advocacy of body positivity as an integral part of her work.
