Lithuania gives air surveillance radar to Ukraine

“At this critical moment, we must do everything possible to ensure support for the Ukrainian people,” Lithuanian President Gitanas Naušeda said during a rally on the final day of the campaign, which coincided with its first anniversary. of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The money raised will enable the purchase of 14 radars. The 14 million euros, an unexpected amount for the organizers, were collected with donations of 5 euros over the phone, while businesses also participated in the campaign.

THE Lithuania it has taken in 75,000 Ukrainian refugees and pledged €800 million in aid to Kiev, almost half of which is in the form of military aid.

In May 2022, Lithuanians raised more than 5 million euros in three days during the first fundraising campaign, for the purchase of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 military drone for Ukraine, APE-MPE reports, citing AFP.

“Many call this a donation, support, but I say it’s an investment. With Ukraine, we are investing in our security and that of our children,” said TV presenter and activist Andrius Tapinas.
