Anyone who has always followed the ratings of San Remo Festival he knows well that the second evening is the decisive one, the one which, once the curiosity effect has disappeared, establishes whether the formula is right and whether the public has actually found a foothold to hold on to. For his fourth Sanremo, Amadeus manages to hold his own: the second evening gets, in fact, 10,545,000 viewers equal to 62.3% share, a result slightly lower than in 2022 in terms of number of viewers – spectators were 11,320,000 million – but, however, higher in the share – it was 55.8% -. This explains why, as the years go by, the television audience shrinks, consequently increasing the share, but let’s see in detail how it went.
The first part was seen by 14,087,000 spectators with a 61% share, while the second by 6,352,000 spectators with 65.6%. In any case, an excellent result for a Sanremo which demonstrates, even net of the counter-programming set up by Mediaset, that it can easily capture the attention of an audience that considers the Sanremo week an unmissable event from all points of view. The second night of 2023 is naturally better than the second night of 2021, the annus horribilis of Sanremo: on that occasion, in fact, the evening was a veritable Caporetto, “just” totaling 7,586,000 viewers, with a total share of 42.1%. It was the lowest figure recorded since 2015, with the Sanremo of Carlo Conti, Arisa, Emma and Rocio Muñoz Morales.
The first two evenings of Sanremo are, by definition, rather streamlined precisely because they divide the performances of the big names in the competition in half: the real test bench will start from the third eveningwhen the beauty of 28 artists will take turns on the Ariston stage who, let’s really hope, don’t bring the program to an end at 2 and it goes into the night, otherwise who will hear Fiorello?
