Brazil is the country with the most interest in searches for liposuction in the world since the beginning of the historical series in 2004, according to a Google Trends survey sent to CNN in November 2023. Among the most recent searches on the platform, there is a high interest in LAD lipo, with the question “How much does a LAD lipo cost” in second place.
Antonio Pitanguy, plastic surgeon, specialist member of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, tells CNN which, in fact, notes an increase in surgery tables for such aesthetic procedures. According to him, the new fever accompanies a greater desire of people to want to display a muscular body that reflects an extremely “healthy” life.
What is LAD lipo, anyway?
“LAD lipo, or HD lipo, is a surgical procedure that involves a liposuction technique, which seeks to enhance muscular contours, promoting a more athletic appearance and the removal of localized fat resistant to diet and exercise”, explains Antonio Pitanguy.
According to the professional, LAD lipo differs from common liposuction as “conventional lipo seeks to reduce localized fat in a uniform way. HD lipo, on the other hand, seeks to enhance curves and contours through a specific technique where the liposuction will be greater or lesser depending on the desired level of definition”, says the surgeon.
What are the “advantages” for those who opt for LAD lipo?
Those who seek LAD lipo will have “greater definition of curves and body contour, including muscular curves that localized fat often camouflages or hides”, explains Antonio Pitanguy.
According to the professional, the final result will be athletic and defined, both in men and women. “The degree of definition, however, will depend on the technique used by the chosen professional”, he highlights.
The doctor recommends the surgical procedure when the person is at their ideal weight or at least close to it, but complains of localized fat with low sagging. He notes that surgery is most recommended for those who already have a healthy lifestyle, with physical exercise.
There are risks with LAD lipo!
An invasive procedure, LAD lipo presents risks. According to Antonio Pitanguy, there is a greater chance of fibrosis, a condition characterized by the excessive formation of scar tissue, mainly as a result of inflammation, in addition to irregularities on the operating table.
Furthermore, the professional advises to always seek psychological help, in order to understand whether the aesthetic procedure is the best option, as there are risks of damage to mental health, such as depression.
