Like King Charles he celebrated his 75th birthday

After an intense tour abroad and his first opening ceremony of the British Parliament, King Charles celebrated his 75th birthday.

On Monday, after a weekend of commemorative events to mark Remembrance Day, the king hosted a party at Highgrove, his Gloucestershire residence. To celebrate the milestone, several activities were planned on Tuesday, including the launch of the Coronation Food Project and a reception to mark the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service.

A private birthday party was held at Clarence House on Tuesday evening, where sources close to Charles say the guest list is “limited” to immediate family and close friends. The Prince Harry And Meghan Markle were not present: as a spokesperson for the Archewell Foundation recently declared a Peoplein fact, “there have been no contacts for an invitation to Her Majesty’s next birthday party.”

On Monday, Charles joined other 75-year-olds for a tea in Highgrove’s Orchard Room, overlooking the gardens, where a number of designated guests and ‘community champions’ were treated to live music. As for the guests, Buckingham Palace said they were local residents who were nominated by friends, family and neighbours, while the final guest list was chosen by vote.

The celebrations also covered other 75th anniversaries taking place this year, including Generation Windrush and the NHS. Ahead of Charles’ birthday on Tuesday, a similar birthday party for the whole community will be held at Dumfries House.

Charles’ birthday will also see the launch of the Coronation Food Project, which aims to eliminate food waste (an issue close to the sovereign’s heart). King Charles and the Queen Camila will visit a surplus food distribution center on the outskirts of London and talk to staff and volunteers from some of the UK’s largest supermarket chains about how to distribute surplus food across the country. The new project, which will last five years, represents one of the king’s ideas to combat the cost of living crisis and reduce waste.

Charles will also use his birthday to announce that the Prince’s Trust, the charity he founded when he retired from the Navy in 1976, will henceforth be called The King’s Trust. During the period of Charles’ accession to the throne, Buckingham Palace announced that the Trust would evolve and that the new wording will serve to avoid any confusion with Prince William’s Royal Foundation.
