Letter from professors in support of university sit-ins against Israel

After yesterday's occupations of universities in Berlin and Leipzig by anti-Israel activists, more than 100 professors and lecturers at universities in the German capital support in an open letter the right of students to demonstrate, even by occupying university premises. “Teachers at Berlin's universities” are defending the students, says the letter, which condemns the eviction of the premises occupied by activists at the Free University of Berlin yesterday. “We defend their right to peaceful protest, which also includes the occupation of university premises”, stress the professors and accuse the administration of the institution of “subjecting the protesters to police violence”, while justifying the protests “for the bombing of Rafa and the worsening of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza”.
