Today, July 25, Funko employees officially announced their first video game dedicated to the legendary line of Funko Pop figures. The 10:10 Games studio is responsible for developing the project, which includes John Burton – some time ago he worked at Traveller’s Tales, but after leaving the legendary studio he assembled a new team. The developers promise a release in 2023 (no one is ready to name a more exact date yet) immediately on both PC and consoles, but they have not yet provided information about which generations of game consoles. At the same time, the team is already promising an AAA platformer, although this is the first project for a new team and the goal seems overly ambitious.
It is also worth mentioning that in the first trailer of the project, no one showed figurines from the legendary franchises – the lion’s share of screen time went to a character named Freddie. This is a mascot figurine, one of the few Funko own characters. But, of course, in the future, the developers promise many different integrations with third-party companies and well-known franchises. And it’s easy to believe, because Funko has many contracts with the largest film companies around the world.
