The Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM) arrested the last suspect of involvement in the lynching of Jones Mota Lopes, identified as Ayan Ferreira de Souza, 29 years old. The other two involved, Francisco de Oliveira Galvão Neto, 31, and Klinger Luan Ferreira Costa, 23, known as “Ferreirinha”, had already been arrested on August 30.
On Tuesday (03) the police gave details of the crime. According to delegate Ricardo Cunha, head of DEHS, the case occurred during a traffic dispute, in the early hours of August 28th on Avenida Autaz Mirim, Tancredo Neves neighborhood, one of the busiest avenues in the east zone of Manaus.
According to the police, the victim, a 55-year-old man, was allegedly chased by the motorcyclists after allegedly running over one of them and fleeing the scene.
The case gained notoriety after videos were released on social media, showing scenes of extreme violence. In the images, the victim is brutally beaten by several motorcyclists, pulled from his vehicle and beaten to death, without any chance of defense.
It was through this footage that the police were able to identify those involved and request temporary arrests from the courts.
Ayan Ferreira de Souza, Francisco de Oliveira Galvão Neto and Klinger Luan Ferreira Costa will answer for the crime of homicide.
