Last hour: China’s economy grows by 5.4% year -on -year in the first quarter of 2025 compared to 5.1% expected

China’s economy expanded at an annual 5.4% rate in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, at the same rate observed in the last quarter of last year, according to official data published by the National Statistics Office (NBS) on Wednesday. The data exceeded 5.1% market forecast in the reported period.

In quarterly terms, the Gross domestic product (GDP) of China grew 1.2% in the first quarter of 2025, after moving 1.6% in the previous quarter, being below 1.4% early.

March retail sales in China Retail salts They increased 5.9% compared to 4.2% expected and the previous 4%, while industrial production stood at 7.7% compared to the 5.6% and 5.9% estimate in February.

Meanwhile, the investment in fixed assets advanced 4.2% accumulated in the year (YTD) interannual (yoy) in March, compared to 4.1% expected and the previous 4.1%.

Aud/USD reaction to China data

China’s GDP data and activity offer an additional impulse to the Australian dollar, since the AUD/USD recovers 0.6350. At the time of writing, the AUD/USD negotiates 0.10% higher in the day.
