The deadline set by the financial staff for the payment of the road tax of 2022 expires in 17 days. Those, however, who are not able to pay the road tax due to the accuracy or high prices of gasoline, which has reached 2 euros per liter, they can immobilize their vehicle by digitally submitting the license plates on the myCar platform of AADE. The extension given to the deadline for payment of traffic fees until February 28, 2022 is valid both for the payment of the fees and for those who wish to put their vehicles in voluntary immobility.

Those who put their car to rest do not need to take out the license plates. The license plates remain on the vehicle and indicate the parking space where the car will remain for as long as it is stationary. Those who are found to be driving their vehicles are facing hefty fines. Specifically, they will be required to pay a fine of 10,000 euros, which increases to 30,000 euros in case of recurrence, while at the same time the driver’s license of the owner or holder of the vehicle is revoked for three years.

For digital filing of license plates taxpayers should know the following:

1. To put the car in digital immobility you must log in to the myCAR application of AADE with the Taxisnet codes. Subsequently:

– Select or enter the registration number of the vehicle you wish to immobilize digitally.

– Enter the T.K. of the area, street and number.

– Declare the parking space responsibly, which must be privately owned, rented or leased.

– Submit your application and if you are the sole owner the system gives you an application number and informs you that the vehicle has been immobilized digitally. In case there are co-owners, they will be informed of your request, which will have to be approved to complete the process.

2. Digital immobility is allowed only for passenger cars. and two-wheelers, whose condition is “in motion” and the owner has their license and license plates.

3. When the vehicle is to be immobilized digitally, all co-owners must agree. Co-owners are informed via personalized information or by e-mail if it has been declared, and if they agree they must approve the request.

4. If during the inspection, it is found by the competent authorities that the vehicle is circulating or parked in a public place and bears license plates while it is in digital immobility, the immobility is revoked, payment of traffic fees and their late payment fine is imposed, as well as administrative fine of 10,000 euros. In case of recurrence, an administrative fine of 30,000 euros is imposed and the owner / holder’s driving license is removed.
