A couple of biologists, identified as Daniel Munhoz and Larissa Uema, made a video in which they caught a hell shark, known as the largest shark on the planet. The record took place on March 5, in Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo.
The duo is a dive instructor in the coastal city and shared the moment on social networks. Daniel commented on the importance of the Bulk shark for the operation of the ecosystem. “These animals keep the food chain of the entire stable and healthy ocean only with its existence. Their habits are naturally part of a complex cycle that leaves everything working and consequently alive.”
According to the biologist, the animal is “magnificent, impressive and harmless.” Also, he said that “diving with this animal is the definition of happiness and admiration. Being face to face with this animal brings a feeling that nothing created by man can bring. As long as we do not put our focus on nature and survival, we will be bound to sadness and a terrible future.”

Meet the Bulk Shark
According to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (Boem), a US government agency, the hell sharks are the largest sharks and the largest living fish today.
The largest animal of the species already recorded 18.8 meters long. They have a wide and flattened head, with a large mouth located at the front, instead of the bottom, like most sharks.
The animal uses the mouth to suck excess water and filters it through special filters to capture its plankton prey. Bullet sharks are identified by their dark gray skin and spots and white or white stripes. The combination of spots and stripes is unique for each shark.
The species is highly migratory, in inhabiting all the hot and temperate waters of the world, except the Mediterranean. She lives along the coast and in open waters. Bullet sharks migrate based on food availability and accompany plankton flowering, fish spawning events, or seasonal changes at water temperature.
By consuming large amounts of plankton, small fish and other microorganisms, the mammal limits the populations of these species, which helps prevent conditions that lead to oxygen scarcity in water.
Water shark waste provides essential nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, which in turn promote phytoplankton growth, which forms the base of the marine food web.
Even though plankton is the main source of food, they also feed on small fish, squid and crustaceans, and are known to suck fishing fish in some parts of the world.
According to the International Union for Nature Conservation (UICN), the Bulk Shark is classified as “endangered” in relation to the extinguishing level of the species.
