Lana Del Rey coach gives statement to police amid xenophobia probe

Singer Lana Del Rey’s drum technician, Will Whitney, gave testimony to the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro in the inquiry that investigates a possible crime of xenophobia.

Will, who accompanies the singer on her shows in Brazil, said he had his cell phone stolen while he was in Rio de Janeiro. On social networks, he revolted after the incident, saying that Brazilians do not deserve the live show.

“I just had my iPhone stolen from my hand by a piece of m…. on a motorcycle. F…..this whole country. They don’t deserve live music. Can’t wait to go home,” he wrote.

On Instagram, the musician added the hashtags “F…..o Brasil” and “Human Trash” and private comments. Upon receiving a flood of comments on other posts, he deleted the publication and, shortly after, deactivated the Instagram profile.

The Rio Civil Police reported that he was heard at the Tourist Service Police Station in São Paulo on Saturday night (3), and that investigations are ongoing. Delegate Rita Salim, who is responsible for the investigation, said that Will said he regretted the lines he made about Brazilians.

The Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo said, in a note, that the man gave testimony and recorded a police report regarding the theft suffered in Rio de Janeiro.
