According to representatives of the Canadian division of the consulting firm KPMG, institutional investors are showing significant attention to asset tokenization, NFTs and the metaverse.
Kareem Sadek and Kunal Bhasin of KMPG Canada’s crypto team revealed that the company has invested in BTC and ETH to show interest in the industry. At the same time, the purchase of cryptocurrencies was only the first step in this direction.
“We decided that we needed to independently invest in digital assets and show the community that KMPG Canada supports the entry of institutional investors into the cryptocurrency industry,” said Bhasin.
Sadek added that the purchase of BTC and ETH was not a spontaneous decision – the company conducted a relevant study, after which it decided to invest in cryptocurrencies. KPMG has not stopped even the current “bear market”, especially since more and more large companies are showing interest in the industry. Of particular interest is the tokenization of assets in the real estate market and the development of metauniverses:
“Metaverses are still at an early stage of development and companies are exploring this area. Institutional investors will continue to invest in the metaverses.”
At the same time, the KPMG cryptocurrency team expects regulators to pay attention to institutional interest in digital assets and develop an appropriate legal framework to protect investors. According to Sadek, Canadian regulators have “provided a comfortable environment” for KPMG to research the cryptocurrency industry.
Recall that in February, KPMG published the results of a study according to which in 2021 global investment in digital currencies and technologies related to them increased by 5.5 times.
