Kioxia has announced the availability of preview samples of its Automotive Universal Flash Storage (UFS) Ver. 3.1 designed for automotive electronics. Modules are planned to be released in 64, 128, 256 and 512 GB capacities. They use proprietary flash memory BiCS FLASH.

Taking into account the area of application, drives are guaranteed to remain operational at temperatures from -40 °С to +105 °С. They meet the requirements of the AEC-Q100 Grade2 specification.
According to the manufacturer, in terms of sequential read and write speed, Automotive UFS Ver. 3.1 is approximately 2.2 and 6 times higher than the previous generation devices, respectively. This, in particular, will speed up the initial boot of the system and the installation of updates.
So far, trial samples of products with a volume of 64, 128 and 256 GB are available. A 512GB variant will join them in April.
