The audio recording of the speech took place at Buckingham Palace, and a photo portraying him at his desk while he delivered it was released in the last few hours. In the image the king, smiling in a blue pinstripe suit, sits in the 18th Century Room in front of two microphones that record his words.

In the audio, his first public speech after the announcement of his “beloved daughter-in-law” Kate Middleton's cancer, King Charles talks aboutimportance of kindness and caring for others. In the speech the sovereign (who like all English kings after the schism of Henry VIII is the Supreme Ruler of the Anglican Church) speaks of Jesus. And he does so by taking him as an “example of how we should take care of each other».

It's official: King Charles will attend Easter mass in Windsor (but Kate and William won't be there)
Buckingham Palace confirmed the presence of the sovereign, who will be in St. George's Chapel on Sunday “with Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family”. Notably absent, according to the British press, will be the Princes of Wales

King Charles, in his speech, then broadens the scope by underlining that even as a nation «we need and benefit greatly from those who reach out to us in friendship, especially in times of need». A hint which, although very veiled, seems to be a reference to her and Kate's illness and how important the closeness of the people in times of pain is for both of them.

Charles, moreover, after Kate's announcement of her illness, had made it known, through a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, that he was «particularly proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking out as she did». And he told the British press that he had “remained in close contact with his beloved daughter-in-law over the past few weeks”, and that he and Camilla “will continue to give love and support to the entire family during these difficult times”.

Difficulties that also concern him himself, who was treated for an unspecified prostate cancer which was officially discovered after an operation for an enlarged prostate. And after leaving the hospital he canceled all public appearances, leaving William the burden of representing him. But now, with Kate's cancer made official, Charles wanted to give a message of hope to his subjects.
