Kim Jong-un took the… tractors down the streets of Pyongyang to celebrate 75 years of North Korea

With an impressive “paramilitary” parade in Pyongyang, in his presence North Korean leader Kim Jong Unthe big celebrations began today (9/9) for the 75th anniversary of the declaration of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as is the official name of North Korea.

The military parade was held in the square named after the country’s first leader, Kim Il Sung (Kim Jong Un’s grandfather). At Kim Jong Un’s side was his daughter Kim Yu Ae. In the parade, which took place at night on the streets of Pyongyang, not all military equipment came out – according to the specialized website NKNEWS this is expected to happen at another time – but tractors with armed militiamen, some rocket launchers, battalions of army motorcycles and armed students. And the vehicles, let’s note that although they are political, they have undergone “military” conversions so that they can be operational in case of need.

A high-ranking Chinese delegation visited Pyongyang and held talks with Kim Jong Un, according to the North’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). In a letter, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his desire to strengthen strategic cooperation between his country and North Korea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also sent a letter to Kim Jong Un, in which he underlined that Moscow and Pyongyang will strengthen their bilateral relations in order to guarantee security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the wider region of Northeast Asia..

Kim is expected to travel to Russia this month to meet Putin and discuss weapons programs to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Reuters news agency reported.
