Kim Jong Un participated in a paramilitary parade this Saturday (9) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of North Korea and received greetings from presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. The information comes from the country’s local press.
The event was attended by paramilitary forces and industrial workers, who paraded through Kim Il Sung Square, in Pyongyang, the country’s capital.
Kim attended the parade with his daughter, believed to be named Kim Ju Ae, and received congratulations in letters from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A Chinese delegation, led by Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, and visiting members of the Alexandrov Russian Army Academic Ensemble also participated in the parade.
Also according to the North Korean press, diplomats based in Pyongyang were invited to the ceremony.
In Putin’s letter, the Russian leader wrote that relations between the two countries “have invariably developed on the principle of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual respect,” adding that he believes they will “expand bilateral ties in all aspects in a planned way, joining efforts”.
“This is fully in line with the interests of the people of our two countries and will contribute to ensuring security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia,” Putin wrote.
In Xi’s letter, the Chinese leader said that his country was “willing to strengthen strategic communication, deepen working cooperation and promote China-DPRK relations” with Pyongyang.
