Kim Jong-Un arrives in Russia and meets with Putin’s minister

Kim Jong-Un arrived in Russia this Tuesday (12) and disembarked the train that took him to the country at the railway station in the city of Khasan, in the Russian Far East.

The North Korean leader was greeted by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kozlov.

“The leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea [Kim Jong-un] was received at the Khasan station in the Primorsky Krai region by the chairman of the intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and the DPRK, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov,” Russian state media TASS said, citing a message from the ministry.

There is still some way to go to the city of Vladivostok in Russia’s far east, where Kim could go, although it is unclear where his next destination could be and when exactly the video was stopped.

The train was traveling north via Primorsky Krai in the country’s Far East region, Russian state news agency RIA reported on Tuesday. South Korea’s Defense Ministry said it believes the North Korean leader entered Russia early Tuesday morning local time.

Russia’s Far East region is a huge swath of territory that shares land borders with China, North Korea and Mongolia. According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the train appears to be moving towards a destination further north than the eastern port of Vladivostok, towards Khabarovsk province on the border with China, citing several local sources in Vladivostok.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was in Vladivostok on Tuesday for the Eastern Economic Forum, where he gave a speech praising Russia’s trade opportunities with Asia-Pacific countries.
