Kenyan president vows to crack down on ‘anarchy’ after bloody protests

Kenya’s government has vowed to crack down on the violence that took place in the country during protests against its tax plan that were bloodied after five people died. “We will respond fully, effectively and swiftly to the treacherous events that took place today,” William Ruto said at a press conference in the capital Nairobi, stressing that the protests were “captured by dangerous persons”. “It cannot be considered normal, or even contemplated, that criminals masquerading as peaceful protesters can terrorize the people, their elected representatives and the institutions established by our Constitution, and expect us to be unconcerned.” he added.
