Kata, a missing girl in Florence: her uncle arrested and her parents searched

The investigation into Kata, a child who disappeared in Florence on 10 June, continues. Today a piece is added to the events that revolve around the ex Astor hotel, the place at the center of the sad story of the little Peruvian girl who seems to have vanished into thin air; a key position in the investigation, cleared by the forces of order on June 17, where violence and threats were apparently quite frequent.

In fact, the news was spread that a family member of the little girl ended up in prison together with three other people. It is the uncle, Abel Alvarez Vasquez, taken away in handcuffs together with the group of men accused of being the protagonists of a punitive action against two subjects who did not want (or could not, considering that the cost seems to be around around 6/700 euros per month) to pay for the rooms occupied in the former hotel. As part of this intervention by the police, a search also involved Kata’s parents, who however did not end up in the register of suspects.

The alleged crimes

Among the crimes that for now have been hypothesized by the prosecution for those under arrest are extortion, attempted murder and injuries. They refer in particular to an event on May 28, when one of the occupants of the hotel rooms was allegedly defenestrated. “They’re going to kill me,” a person yelled after calling for help on the phone. However, the uncle’s arrest was not motivated “only” by this episode of alleged violence.

The investigation into Kata’s disappearance

Thus the events related to the racket of the rooms of the former Astor hotel continue, which appears to be one of the most plausible leads followed by the investigators of the Florentine prosecutor’s office to resolve the case of the disappearance of the child. Therefore, even the arrest of her uncle could be part of the investigation concerning Kataleya Alvarez (this is the full name of the 5-year-old girl).

This is also because the intervention of the prosecutor made it possible to search the mother, father and uncle of the child on this occasion, as well as the woman who saw her last. It was thus possible to check that these people’s cell phones did not contain any significant information for the purposes of the investigation, which for various reasons could have been hidden from the investigators.

In fact, according to the investigators, among the plausible motives for the kidnapping of the child there would also be feuds involving Kata’s relatives and other groups who had interests in the racket of the rooms of the former hotel.
