Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, shortly before his speech at the Plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
During the meeting, the prime minister referred to the national support program to deal with electricity price hikes and repeated his proposal to disconnect the wholesale price of natural gas from the final price of electricity that reaches the consumer. He also emphasized that Greece can be a hub for transferring energy from the wider region to the Balkans and Europe.
The prime minister noted the progress Greece has made in the economic sector, highlighting the wide range of structural reforms to strengthen competitiveness and social cohesion.
