K. Mitsotakis: In the final stretch, the extension of the hours of kindergartens and primary schools until 6 in the afternoon

Describing the demographic issue as critical for today, but also explosive for tomorrow, the Prime Minister brought to the forefront the government’s strategy to deal with it and spoke of an issue that requires the mobilization of all political forces and society as a whole.

“This is a bomb whose timer moves fast and we are called to deactivate it in time …”, noted Mr. Mitsotakis, at the conference “Demographic 2022. The big challenge”. The Prime Minister announced that:

– In the public consultation will be posted and will become law state in July the modernization of the framework for assisted reproduction. The potential age limit is raised to 54 years.

A national council will be set up to coordinate all relevant initiatives.

– A key priority is to provide affordable housing for young people. “We are studying a plan that will exhaust all possibilities. Like, the important public property … We are considering partnerships with the private sector for the renovation of old houses”, the prime minister noted.

– In the final stretch are the extension of the hours of kindergartens and primary schools until six in the afternoon and the staffing of health units, mainly on the islands, by gynecologists and pediatricians.
