K. Hatzidakis: Three years of social policy in practice

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, takes stock of the government’s actions in social policy, posting on social media.

Specifically, Mr. Hatzidakis states: “2019-2022: We, the government of the New Democracy, are implementing a social policy in practice! All those who shouted that our social policy would supposedly cause great and terrible “catastrophes”, were silenced answers from the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, yesterday in the Parliament. We continue, implementing the reforms we voted for. We do not give the monopoly of sensitivity to SYRIZA!”.

At the same time, in his post, the Minister of Labor presents in a video the most important policies in the field of social policy and summarizes them as follows:

– “all-time record for issuing principal pensions,

– zeroing of overdue main pensions by 2018,

– new historical record in May 2022 with 30,000 pensions,

– reduction of unemployment from 17.3%, in the summer of 2019, to 12.5%, in April 2022,

– an extra salary in the pocket of those paid the minimum wage (a total increase of 9.7%),

– employee protection: Digital Work Card, guarantee for respecting their hours,

– worker protection: more parental leave,

– tripling of rates of the programs of the Public Employment Service (PYPA) in the last 2.5 years,

– personal assistant and disability card for people with disabilities,

– higher supplementary pensions for young people with the system of individual “piggy banks”,

– 30,000 more children in nurseries and KDAP,

– Neighborhood Nannies – 120 childcare spaces within large businesses to support new parents,

– Greece among the 12 countries worldwide with full legal equality between men and women,

– 1555 put an end to the chaos with the downloaded phones of the Ministry of Labor and its supervised agencies”.
