Justin Timberlake pleads guilty to drunk driving; find out what the sentence was

Singer Justin Timberlake pleaded guilty to a charge of drunk driving in a deal with prosecutors in Suffolk County, New York, on Friday (13).

Judge Carl Irace sentenced Timberlake to 25 to 40 hours of community service and also ordered the pop star to make a public safety statement. He will also pay a $500 fine.

The judge’s sentence was agreed to by the defense and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Community service can be done with a nonprofit organization of Timberlake’s choosing and must be completed within one year.

When the judge asked the singer if he was willing to accept these conditions, he replied: “I would be honored to do so.”

Justin Timberlake entered the courthouse shortly after 11 a.m. wearing a black shirt, brown pants and a pearl necklace, surrounded by security guards and his attorney. The pop star did not answer any questions.

At his last court hearing in August, the music star pleaded not guilty to a drunk driving charge. Had he been convicted, he could have faced a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Singer’s arrest

Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor in June after leaving the bar at The American Hotel shortly after midnight, police said. He drove down Main Street in his 2025 BMW, failed to stop at a stop sign and failed to stay in his lane.

Police also said the pop star failed a field sobriety test and refused a breathalyzer test multiple times, saying, “No, I’m not taking a chemical test.”

The singer’s lawyer disputed that the artist was drunk, arguing that he should not have been arrested.
