The Judge of the Judicial Reorganization of Americanas, Paulo Assed Estefan, appointed the company Moore do Brasil to investigate the facts and conduct described by the creditors and the degree of commitment of the described “accounting inconsistencies” pointed out by the banks.
The work should be led by Moore’s main partner, Carlos Atushi Nakamuta.
The judge mentions that the appointment aims to avoid turmoil in investigations, although these must occur without prejudice to the verification by external institutions of the trustee. An independent committee, appointed by the Americanas, is already working to elucidate any possible fraud in the company.
The committee is chaired by attorney Otavio Yazbek, and also comprises Vanessa Lopes, a member of the committee and board of directors of Americanas, and Eduardo Flores. The committee members are assisted by Maeda, Ayres & Sarubbi and EY.
