The Justice of Rio Grande do Sul judges this Wednesday (3) the appeals against the result of the jury of the Kiss nightclub case, which sentenced four people. The session takes place in the 1st Criminal Chamber of the State Court of Justice.
The defense of the defendants asked for a resizing of the sentences, alleging nullities in the process and in the ceremony, in addition to considering that the decision did not correspond to the evidence raised.
The session will be chaired by judge Manuel José Martinez Lucas, who is also the rapporteur of the appeals. In addition to him, judges José Conrado Kurtz de Souza and Jayme Weingartner Neto will participate.
remember the case
On January 27, 2013, a fire at the Kiss nightclub, located in the central area of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, resulted in the death of 242 people and injured 636.
The fire started after one of the members of the Banda Gurizada Fandangueira fired a pyrotechnic device and the sparks hit the ceiling, which was coated with foam.
The members of the Kiss nightclub, Elissandro Callegaro Spohr and Mauro Londero Hoffmann, the lead singer of Banda Gurizada Fandangueira, Marcelo de Jesus dos Santos, and the music producer Luciano Bonilha Leão were sentenced on December 10, 2021.
