Judge Luís Gustavo Vasques, from the 2nd Criminal Court of São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, received, this Friday (15), a complaint from the Public Ministry against anesthesiologist Giovanni Quintella Bezerra. The doctor will answer as a defendant for the crime of rape of a vulnerable woman who had just undergone a cesarean section in the surgical center of the Hospital da Mulher Heloneida Studart, on Sunday (10).
According to the complaint, the crime was committed against a pregnant woman and in violation of the duty inherent to the profession. To preserve and protect the victim’s image, secrecy was decreed in the process.
The crime was filmed by the nursing team, who, using the recordings, immediately communicated the facts to the head of the hospital, who called the Civil Police. At the scene, the police made the arrest in flagrante delicto.
In his decision, the judge highlights that the complaint offered by the Public Ministry fulfills the requirements to make Giovanni a defendant.
“In this regard, I emphasize that the complaint contains the exposition of the criminal facts, with all their circumstances, the qualification of the accused, the classification of the crime and the list of witnesses”, he wrote.
The doctor, whose arrest in the act was converted into preventive custody during a custody hearing held last Tuesday (12), will be summoned to present a defense within 10 days. THE CNN he was unable to contact the anesthesiologist’s defense attorneys.
