The Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) rejected a new habeas corpus request presented by the defense of lawyer and influencer Deolane Bezerra, preventively arrested in an operation investigating a money laundering scheme related to illegal gambling.
After returning to a closed regime for failing to comply with precautionary measures, she remains incarcerated in the Buíque Women’s Penal Colony, in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. In a custody hearing held on Wednesday (11), the TJPE decided to maintain Deolane’s preventive detention.
After the hearing, a new habeas corpus filed by the businesswoman’s legal team was denied by Judge Eduardo Guilliod Maranhão. In addition to the failure to comply with the rules, the influencer’s daughter was mentioned twice in the decision.
“If the patient was authorized to leave prison, it was exclusively with the well-being of her young daughter in mind, as determined by the Supreme Court. [o Supremo Tribunal Federal]”, the magistrate points out in the document.
At another point, he comments: “I regret that the patient did not give her daughter the same priority, attention and care that the Brazilian Justice system did, but given the gravity of the facts, I believe that the Honorable Judge acted correctly when she ordered the patient’s preventive detention, a measure that, given the factual circumstances presented above, appears to be completely proportional.”
House arrest
Five days after the arrest of lawyer and influencer Deolane Bezerra, the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) granted house arrest to the businesswoman on Monday (9).
Deolane’s legal team had filed a habeas corpus petition last Thursday (5). However, as soon as she left the prison unit, Deolane failed to comply with precautionary measures imposed by the Court when speaking to the press and fans in front of the Recife Women’s Penal Colony.
The influencer also made a critical post on social media.
