In posts on his personal X account this Wednesday (17), the President of the United States, Joe Biden, made an ironic appeal for fundraising.
In a first post, he wrote: “I am sick.” In the response to that post, he highlighted: “of Elon Musk and his rich friends trying to buy this election. And if you agree, contribute here.”
This comes after the White House announced that Biden tested positive for Covid-19 during a trip to Las Vegas, and just days after billionaire Elon Musk announced his endorsement — and financial support — of Donald Trump’s campaign.
In a post on his official presidential account, Biden took a more serious approach, writing: “I tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon, but I am feeling fine.” He also thanked people for their support.
“I will be isolating myself while I recover, and during that time I will continue working to get the job done for the American people,” he added.
Campaign will do what it can remotely, says source
Joe Biden’s campaign will retool after his Covid-19 diagnosis on Wednesday (17), doing as much as possible remotely, according to a campaign source.
Biden has had Covid-19 before and has made many video calls during that time, a White House official said, adding that we should expect something similar in the coming days.
The president, who was spotted without a mask after announcing he tested positive for the disease, was wearing a mask in the car and is wearing one on Air Force One now, a White House official said.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris will go ahead with her scheduled appearance at a campaign event in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Thursday (18), according to an administration official.
