The President of the United States, Joe Biden, said this Friday (1st) that work continues on negotiating an agreement to release hostages held by Hamas. He also called for an “immediate ceasefire” between Israel and the armed group in the Gaza Strip.
“We are trying to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas on the return of the hostages and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for at least the next six weeks and to allow for increased aid to the Gaza Strip,” Biden said during a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The president added that the US will “insist” that there be more trucks and routes so that more aid can be delivered to people in Gaza.
“We will insist that Israel facilitate more trucks and more routes to bring more and more people the help they need, without excuses”, he highlighted.
Launching aid in the Gaza Strip
Joe Biden also announced that the US will launch humanitarian aid and supplies into the Gaza Strip.
The American military is working to carry out these airdrops on Palestinians in the coming days, a US official previously told Reuters. CNN.
The Democrat highlighted that aid is not flowing to Gaza quickly enough and that he was working to broker an immediate ceasefire agreement that would allow additional assistance to the Palestinian territory.
