Jewish students sue Harvard for anti-Semitism

Complaint against the University Harvard they filed Jewish studentswho accuse it of allowing it to become one “stronghold” of uncontrolled anti-Semitism.

In the lawsuit filed last night, the students they accuse Harvard of “selectively” implementing its policies anti-discrimination in order to avoid protecting Jewish students from harassment, ignoring their pleas for protection and hiring professors who advocate violence against Jews and spread anti-Semitic propaganda.

“Based on his track record, he is inconceivable that Harvard would allow any group other than Jews to be targeted for similar mistreatment or would allow, without response, students and faculty to call for the extermination of any country other than Israel,” the document reads.

In the lawsuit the prestigious university with a history of 388 years accused of violating a federal law on civil rights that prohibits prejudice.

The lawsuit, as APE-MPE notes, was filed eight days after the president of Harvard Claudine Gay resigned, under fire for her handling of anti-Semitism following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas.

Harvard has not yet responded to a Reuters request for comment.

Among the plaintiffs in the lawsuit against Harvard is Alexander Kestenbaum, a master's candidate at Harvard Divinity School. In addition, five other unnamed students in the School of Law and School of Public Health and the non-profit organization Students Against Antisemitism.

Students say that there is no excuse for Harvard to sit idly by and allow anti-Jewish attacks to escalate; under the argument of the supposed need to allow people to express themselves freely.

They further argue that the partiality of Harvard expands on enrollment, reporting among other things a 60% drop in Jewish student admissions.

More than 30 student organizations at Harvard joined a petition a day after the October 7 Hamas attack, blaming Israel. According to the lawsuit, it took a day for the university to respond, choosing to make platitudes but not condemn the list or support Jewish students.

The suit, filed in federal court in Boston, seeks the expulsion or expulsion of students who engage in anti-Semitic acts and the return of donations used to hire anti-Semitic professors or promote an anti-Semitic program.
