After four months of intensive recovery, Jeremy Renner reappeared in the Show of Jimmy Kimmel, a site he reached on his own foot and leaning on a cane.
Kimmel took advantage of the moment to ask the actor about his upcoming projects and the accident that almost took his life. Incredibly, Jeremy confessed that he spent 45 minutes waiting for a helicopter to take him to the nearest hospital, during which time he was conscious, in agony with one eye out of its socket.
Jeremy recounted that a snowplow ran over him while he was trying to stop it, as it was sliding towards his nephew Alex. Fortunately, the snowplow didn’t affect any of his vital organs, but his injuries left him in agony.
It was like being under a giant metal cookie roller. It just missed every vertebra, didn’t hit any organs. My brain did not swell.
It was then (when the medical team arrived) that they stuck some kind of emergency scalpel or whatever into my chest. I don’t know, but then I said to myself: ‘I have to go to sleep’.
Similarly, Jeremy narrated that despite finding himself in a pool of his own blood and with one eye out of place, he felt worried about his nephew, who, fortunately, did not have any injuries.
My eye popped out. That’s weird. But I was very lucky that none of the organs were damaged. I think he could see my eye with the other eye.
[…] He had to think of Alex, because he was there the whole time. I didn’t see anything, he did. He had to consider his perspective, and then he had to consider everyone else’s.
The actor ended his interview by recounting the reaction that his colleagues and friends Chris Evans and Paul Rudd had when they came to visit him at the hospital.
They are lousy actors, they couldn’t hide the fact that he looked horrible.
The actor’s case continues to shock experts, since not everyone could resist the pain of more than 30 bone fractures, thoracic and orthopedic injuries, and then have a quick recovery with positive results. Maybe this would prove that Jeremy is indeed a superhero in real life.
